For this piece, I will highlight the top performers at the plate and on the mound from the previous week of play. Below is the hotlist for Week Seven. Here is last week’s Hotlist.

Who’s Hot At The Plate?

Shay Whitcomb – Whitcomb has made great improvements this season offensively and this week was huge for him. He hit .560 (14-for-25) with a double, 2 triples, 3 homers and 8 runs batted in. He has a .949 OPS in 39 games this season.

Jesus Bastidas – Bastidas, who has been great all year, had an absolute monster week. In six games this week, he had 4 double and 4 homers driving in 11 runs. He leads the Astros system in hits and doubles this season.

Pedro León – León had a big week to continue his hot hitting this season. He played in 6 games and had 4 doubles, 2 homers and drove in 9 runs. He has 47 RBI with a .916 OPS in 41 games this year.

Logan Cerny – Cerny has seen his struggles over the last couple of years but this week he had a nice stretch. In five games, Cerny hit .313 with 2 doubles, a homer and 5 runs batted in. He also stole 2 bases.

Jeron Williams – Williams has been popping up on this list quite a bit. The 23-year-old had another strong week connecting on 2 doubles, 2 triples, 2 homers and 10 runs batted in. Overall he is hitting .340 this season.

Who’s Hot On The Mound?

A.J. Blubaugh – Blubaugh was ranked as one of the better pitching prospects in the system earlier this year and he continues to earn that designation. This week he struck out 8 over 5.1 innings without allowing an earned run.

Michael Knorr – Knorr has been up and down this season but the highs have been really good. This week he tossed 5 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts. He’s up to 23 K in 20 innings with a 2.70 ERA this season.

James Hicks – Hicks has been dominant all season long, and this week was no different. The right-hander went 5 innings allowing 1 run while striking out 7. He has a 1.13 ERA with 40 K in 32 innings this year.

Miguel Ullola – Ullola followed up his 12 strikeout performance last week allowing 1 run over 5.2 innings while striking out 6. He leads the system in strikeouts with 56 in 39.1 innings, good for 12.8 K/9.

Jackson Nezuh – After a rough start to the year, Nezuh turned in another strong performance. The right-hander allowed 1 run over 5 innings while striking out 6. That’s 12 K over his last 10 innings and 38 K in 33 innings overall.
