Who’s Hot At The Plate?
Jason Schiavone – Schiavone got off to a great start this year and then slowed down a bit in Double-A, though he has heated up recently. This week the catcher hit .360 with a double, 5 home runs and 11 runs batted in. He now has 30 home runs over 108 games this season.
Pascanel Ferreras – Ferreras was Mr. Irrelevant back in 2023 but has defied the odds making it to Triple-A. This week the infielder hit .375 with a double, home run and 4 runs batted in. He’s hitting .320 with 19 doubles over 54 games in Triple-A.
Aaron Piasecki – Piasecki is another 2026 draftee who is off to a nice professional start. This week the infielder was great for the Woodpeckers hitting .500 with 4 doubles and 3 stolen bases over 5 games. He’s hitting .370 over his first 16 professional games.
Anthony Huezo – Huezo has been electric this season and had another big week. The 20-year-old hit .333 with 3 doubles, 3 home runs and 6 runs batted in for Asheville. Overall this season he has 22 home runs and 43 stolen bases, one of only three minor leaguers to post a 20/40 season.
Who’s Hot On The Mound?
Jagger Beck – Beck was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2024 and has been a great find. This week the right-hander tossed 5 scoreless innings with 7 strikeouts. He has a 2.84 ERA with 101 strikeouts over 85.2 innings in Single-A.
Parker Smith – Smith has had a bit of a tough season in Asheville but had a nice outing this week. In his one start for the Tourists, Smith tossed 5.2 scoreless innings while striking out 4. Smith has 70 strikeouts over 94 innings this season.
Dylan Howard – Howard has had some struggled in Asheville too but has had some strong outings too. This week, the right-hander struck out 6 batters over 5 innings while allowing 2 runs. He has 83 strikeouts over 93 innings this season.
Javier Perez – Perez was lights out early on in Fayetteville and has since been promoted to Asheville. This week the right-hander struck out 5 over 2 innings allowing 2 runs. He has 126 strikeouts in 104 innings between Single-A and High-A.
