The Houston Astros have signed infielder Brandon Nigh, according to the Oakland Grizzlies website. Nigh, who is 22 years old, played four year for Oakland before going undrafted following the 2025 draft.
His best year came as a junior when he hit .299 with 10 home runs, 16 stolen bases over 58 games. As a senior, Nigh hit .264 with 4 home runs and 16 stolen bases.
After going undrafted, Nigh went to play Independent Ball and has hit well batting .342 with 5 doubles, 5 home runs and more walks than strikeouts over 24 games in the Pioneer League.
The Astros have had success with two other Independent players recently in Brandon McPherson, who is now in Triple-A, and Drew Brutcher, who is now in Double-A.
According to the Oakland website, Nigh will be joining the Fayetteville Woodpeckers in Single-A.
