This will be your weekly look at the hottest prospects in the system, highlighting the top performers at the plate and on the mound. Below is the hotlist for Week Twenty-Three.
Who’s Hot At The Plate?
Zach Cole – Cole hasn’t been able to replicate the success he had last year, until this week. The outfielder was big for Sugar Land hitting .367 with 2 doubles, 3 home runs and 6 runs batted in. Hopefully that success can carry over to 2027.
Pascanel Ferreras – Ferreras was Mr. Irrelevant back in 2023 but has defied the odds making it to Triple-A. This week the infielder hit .320 with two doubles and two home runs. He’s hitting .321 with 21 doubles over 60 games in Triple-A.
Caden Powell – Powell was healthy all season and showed what he could do. This week for Asheville Powell hit .300 with a double, 2 home runs and 7 runs batted in. Overall this year, Powell hit .279 with 18 home runs and 30 stolen bases in Asheville.
Kyle Walker – Walker has been solid all season long and finished with a nice week. The infielder hit .316 with 4 doubles and 3 stolen bases. For Asheville this season, Walker hit .251 with 26 doubles, 5 home runs and 37 stolen bases over 95 games.
Who’s Hot On The Mound?
James Hicks – Hicks has been up and down this season but he had a solid start this week allowing 2 runs over 6.2 innings with 7 strikeouts. While his ERA is higher for the year, he has been dominant at times and still an intriguing prospect to watch.
Javier Perez – Perez was lights out early on in Fayetteville and has since been promoted to Asheville. This week the right-hander struck out 6 over 6 innings allowing just one run. He has 132 strikeouts in 110 innings between Single-A and High-A.
Jesus Carrera – Carrera, who is just 21 years old, put together a pretty strong season for Fayetteville. This week the right-hander allowed one run over 6 innings. He finished the season with a 4.43 ERA over 85.1 innings in Single-A.
Dylan Howard – Howard has had some struggled in Asheville but has had some strong outings too. This week, the right-hander struck out 8 batters over 5 innings while allowing 2 runs. Back to back solid outings for him as he closes out the 2026 season.

Fayetteville – From 4.70 ERA to 4.64 ERA – From .752 OPS to .742 OPS
