Astros Prospect Stock Report 2025: Volume 4

Just like the stock market, prospects’ stock will go up and down throughout the season. Below are a few players hitter who have seen their stock rise. Here is the Astros Prospect Stock Report 2025: Volume 4.

⇑ Stock Up ⇑

Hitter – Ethan Frey

Frey was selected by the Astros in the third round of the 2025 MLB Draft, with the team going over slot to secure his signing. The Astros assigned him to Fayetteville after the draft and he put up some dominant numbers. He hit .330 in 25 games, including hitting .370 over his final 18 games of the season. This includes an impressive 16.4 BB% and 20.5 K% with a 165 wRC+. Frey could fly up the rankings next year.

2025 Stats: 25G, .330 BA/.434 OBP/.470 SLG, 5 2B, 3 HR, 17 RBI, 9 SB, 20 BB/25 SO

Hitter – Zach Cole

Cole got off to a slow start but once he got going, he really took off. A strong finish in Double-A (.302 BA, 10 2B, 6 HR, 27 RBI) earned him a promotion to Triple-A. Once in Sugar Land, he got even better. In 15 Triple-A games, Cole hit .353 with 5 home runs, 16 runs batted in and 3 stolen bases earning him another promotion to Houston. We saw him have historic debut driving in 4 runs in his first game. Cole’s stock has been sky rocketing over the last few weeks.

2025 Stats: 97 G, .279 BA/.377 OBP/.539 SLG, 22 2B, 7 3B, 19 HR, 65 RBI, 18 SB

Pitcher – Ethan Pecko

Pecko was a 2023 draft pick and he had a monster 2024 season earning him the Astros Minor League Pitcher of the Year. Pecko dealt with some injuries early and got off to a slow start but he has been really good since July. Over his last 13 outings he has a 2.75 ERA with 68 strikeouts in 55.2 innings. He earned a promotion to Triple-A and has a 1.88 ERA with 31 K over his last 24 innings. Pecko has been up to 96 MPH and showing off a solid four pitch mix.

2025 Stats: 19 G, 4.08 ERA, 75.0 IP, 68 H, 34 ER, 27 BB, 88 K, 10.6 K/9

Pitcher – Alonzo Tredwell

Tredwell was the Astros 2nd round pick in 2023 and after a rough 2024 which saw him post a 5.37 ERA while only pitching 57 innings, he has really turned things around in 2025. Overall he has a 3.69 ERA with 122 strikeouts in 100 innings but has been even better of late. Over his last 10 outings he has a 2.72 ERA with 54 strikeouts in 36.1 innings. This includes 40 strikeouts in just 22.2 innings in Double-A. Big time turn around for Tredwell who is moving up the ranks.

2025 Stats: 26 G, 3.69 ERA, 100.0 IP, 85 H, 41 ER, 45 BB, 122 K, 11.0 K/9
