The Houston Astros have signed another international pitcher, inking Isaac Palacio to a minor league deal. Palacio is an 19-year-old right-handed pitcher from Venezuela.
Palacio, from Yaracuy, possesses an average fastball, a 12-6 curveball, a change and is working on adding a sinker, according to Jesus Linares.
This report follows some other reported agreements with pitchers Adriano Marrero. Alex Santiago Gonzalez, and Jhosue Rodriguez.
Matthews, Dezenzo hitting well in Puerto Rico
Two Astros prospect, Brice Matthews and Zach Dezenzo, are playing winter ball in Puerto Rico and are performing well so far. Dezenzo has played in 17 games and is hitting .361 (22-for-61) with 3 doubles and 7 runs batted in. While Matthews is only hitting .200 so far, he has also connected on 4 home runs, driven in 14 runs and has 3 stolen bases.
