Report: Houston Astros to Sign Cuban Pitcher Adriano Marrero

astros

The Houston Astros are reported to be signing pitcher Adriano Marrero, according to a report from Francys Romero. Marrero is an 17-year-old right-handed pitcher from Cuba who is listed at 6’3″.

He is seen as an athletic pitcher who runs his fastball up to 93 MPH and has a top spin rate of 3,050. The deal is expected to be finalized in January with an estimated bonus of $400,000.

This report follows the report from last week where the Astros reportedly agreed to a deal with another Cuban pitcher, Alex Santiago Gonzalez.

Hamilton off to hot start in AFL

The last signing I mentioned how great Alex Santos has been, but Quincy Hamilton is holding his own in the AFL too. The outfielder is hitting .278 with 7 runs batted in, 5 stolen bases and 6 walks to 4 strikeouts in 11 games. A great showing for Hamilton who had a solid year in Triple-A posting a .814 OPS in 2024.
