Astros Prospect Hotlist: Week Eighteen

For this piece, I will highlight the top performers at the plate and on the mound from the previous week of play. Below is the hotlist for Week Seventeen. Here is last week’s hotlist.

Who’s Hot At The Plate?

Jancel Villarroel – Villarroel has seen quite the rise this season going from the DSL last year, to Single-A this season. In four games this week, the 19-year-old catcher hit .500 with 5 RBI. He is hitting .291 in 35 games in Single-A.

Kenni Gomez – Gomez has a ton of upside and now has started to show it on the field. This week, the 19-year-old hit .462 (6-for-13) in 3 games. He is hitting .338 over his last 19 games, and .275 overall this season.

Caden Powell – Powell made his professional debut this week and was great. In three games, the 6th round pick from 2024 hit .500 with a double, a home run and 3 runs batted in as he provided instance offense for Fayetteville.

Yamal Encarnacion – Encarnacion had another good week for the Woodpeckers. He only played in two games, but was 5-for-8 with 2 doubles, a home run, 2 runs batted in and 3 stolen bases. He has 36 stolen bases this season.

Who’s Hot On The Mound?

Miguel Ullola – Ullola has been pitching well of late and this week he was really good tossing 5 no-hit innings with 5 strikeouts. He continues to be unhittable allowing 56 hits in 101.1 innings this season.

A.J. Blubaugh – Blubaugh has been pitching well all season but he showed why he might be due to a call-up this week. The right-hander struck out 8 over 6.1 innings allowing 1 run. He has 89 K in 94 innings this year.

Jose Fleury – Fleury had a lot of hype going into the season but struggled with some injuries. This week he had a great outing going 5 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts. He has 43 K in 43.1 inning in AA.

Rhett Kouba – Kouba made two starts this week, going 5 scoreless innings and allowing just 1 hit in both outings. He walked a few, but was able to help the Space Cowboys to two wins.
