The offense got on the board in the 3rd inning on a Winkler RBI double and Perez 2 run double to take a 3-2 lead. The bullpen was phenomenal tossing 4 scoreless innings allowing just 1 hit as they closed out the 3-2 win.

Hicks started for the Hooks but struggled a bit allowing 9 runs over 4 innings allowing 4 runs, 3 earned. The offense got on the board in the 5th on a bases loaded hit by pitch. The Hooks’ bullpen pitched well allowing 1 run over 5 innings but the offense struggled the rest of the way as the Hooks dropped the opener, 5-1.

Hetzler got the opening night start for Asheville and turned in a solid performance striking out 5 over 4.2 scoreless innings, allowing just one hit. In the 9th, Asheville loaded the bases and Nunez came through with a clutch 2 run double to tie it. Schiavone gave Asheville the lead as he followed with a sac fly.
