Astros Minor League Recap: May 25th, 2017
Another day of baseball in the books. See how the teams and prospects performed in their games last night.
AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (18-29) lost 5-3 (BOX SCORE)
Hauschild hasn’t been very good this season for Fresno but he had a solid outing last night allowing just 2 runs over 5.2 innings. Tucker got the scoring started with a 2 run HR in the 5th inning, his 7th HR of the season. Perez went 1.1 scoreless innings to keep it tied at 2. In the top of the 8th, Moran came through with a big 2 out, 2 run single to give Fresno the lead. Reed added an RBI single to make it 5-2. Comer, who has been great this season, picked up the save tossing 2 scoreless innings with 3 strikeouts.
Note: Comer now has a 0.95 ERA with 6 BB/34 K in 28.1 innings this season

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (24-23) won 4-3 (BOX SCORE)
Back and forth game in Corpus last night. Armenteros got the start and was dominant once again. He tossed 5.2 innings of shutout baseball with 8 strikeouts. Armenteros now has 55 K in 41.2 innings this season. Ferguson, who has been on fire, got the Hooks on board with an RBI single in the 5th inning. Ferguson had 2 hits on the night raising his season average to .323 (.405 over his last 10 games).
Springfield tied it at 1 in the top of the 7th but Laureano broke the tie with an RBI single in the bottom half of the inning. Springfield tied it up again in the 8th and then took a 3-2 lead in the 9th. Mayfield drew a bases loaded walk in the 9th to tie it at 3. In the bottom of the 10th, Trompiz came through with a 2 out, walk-off RBI single to win it 4-3.

GAME 1 lost 5-4 (BOX SCORE)
Adcock made the start for Buies Creek in the first game of the double header and got roughed up a bit allowed 5 runs over 5 innings. Rogers got Buies Creek on the board with a solo HR in the 5th, his 3rd in his last 2 games. Birk doubled and later scored on a groundout later in the inning. Javier made his season debut striking out 3 over 1.2 scoreless innings. Buies Creek would get two more on a Michelena 2 run single in the 7th but he was stranded as they fell 5-4.

GAME 2 lost 5-1 (BOX SCORE)
Buies Creek couldn’t find the win column in game 2 either. Alcala got the start and started well but ended up allowing 3 runs, 2 earned over 3.2 innings with 5 strikeouts. He was relieved by Brey who allowed 2 runs on just 1 hit over 3.2 innings. The offense was being shutout all the way up to the 7th when Sierra had an RBI single, but they wouldn’t score anymore and fall 5-1.

Paredes got the start last night tossing 5 scoreless innings with 5 strikeouts lowering his ERA to 2.43 on the season. Quad Cities got their scoring started early getting two runs in the 1st inning on a bases loaded walk to Almonte and an RBI HBP by Dawson. Duarte lead-off the 3rd inning with a HR to make it 3-0. Duarte added an RBI single in the 4th to extend the lead to 4-0. That was more than enough for the pitching staff. Hartman relieved Paredes and was just as dominant striking out 5 over 4 scoreless innings to close it out.
Note: Benedetti is hitting .393 with 12 BB/4 SO over his last 10 games.
