Houston Astros Minor League Recap: July 22nd
Another night of Astros minor league play is in the books. See how the prospects performed last night.
AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (52-45) won 4-3 (BOX SCORE)
Hauschild started for the Grizzlies last night and turned in another quality start. He went 6.2 innings allowing 3 runs and striking out 10. Fresno got on the board first with Teoscar scoring on a passed ball in the second inning. Fresno would enter the 6th inning down 2-1 and take the lead with 2 runs thanks to a White HR and a Kemmer RBI single. Albuquerque would eventually tie it sending the game to the 9th at 3-3. Stassi lead off the bottom of the 9th and crushed a walk-off HR to left field to win it for Frenso.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (60-38) won 4-3 (BOX SCORE)
Corpus gets back on track with a solid win. The Hooks jumped out to an early lead with Fontana scoring on a Davis RBI groundout in the 1st inning. Frias was on the mound for Corpus and was great. He finished going 7 innings and allowing 1 run with 5 strikeouts. In the 6th inning Vasquez hit an RBI double to give the Hooks a 2-1 lead. They would add another run on a Tanielu solo HR in the 7th and one more run in the 8th on a Vasquez solo HR. West gave up 2 unearned runs in the 9th but the Hooks were able to hold on.

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (53-45) lost 9-8 (BOX SCORE)
Lancaster lost by the same scored they won by yesterday. The fell behind 6-0 by the third inning but would battle back. They got on the board with an RBI triple from Sewald and a Nunez RBI groundout. In the 4th they added another run on a Wik RBI single. The Jethawks would get two more in the 5th on a Nunez RBI single and Nunez scoring on a passed ball. Lancaster added two more in the 7th to make it a 9-8 game. Unfortunately they weren’t able to get anything else going and lost by that score.

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (46-51) lost 3-2 (BOX SCORE)
Tough loss late for Quad Cities. Hernandez got the start and was dominant. He gave up 2 runs in the 3rd inning but finished going 6.1 innings allowing just the 2 runs and 14 strikeouts. Quad Cities tied the game in the 7th with a run on a Goedert RBI double and another scoring on a groundout. The game would stay tied at 2 until the 9th when Dayton’s Vasquez hit a solo HR. Quad Cities went down in order in the 9th and fell 3-2.

Tri-City got this game started off well with a Robinson RBI double in the top of the 1st. The game stayed 1-0 until the 4th when Staten Island scored 5 runs. Tri-City bounced back with 3 of their own with 2 runs scoring on an error and an RBI groundout. Tri-City added two more runs in the 7th but Staten Island continued to add on to their lead and win in 13-7.
