Houston Astros Minor League Recap: June 8th

Only Corpus and Quad Cities in action. One won and one lost. See how the prospects performed last night.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (25-32) OFF

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (36-21) won 6-3 (BOX SCORE)

Corpus flexes their power in this one. Emanuel got the start and has been very good in his two appearances this season. Last night he went 5 innings allowing 3 earned runs. Corpus went into the 5th down 3-0. McDonald lead off the bottom of thr 5th with a solo HR, his 9th of the season, to get Corpus on the board. In the 6th inning JD Davis a 2 run HR to center field to tie the game at three. Corpus would have another rally in the 7th. With two outs, Teoscar reached on an error and Bregman singled. Fisher came up with two on and two out and hit a 3 run HR, his 11th of the season, to give the Hooks a 6-3 lead. Paulino pitched three hitless, scoreless innings in relief. West closed the game with a scoreless 9th inning.

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (32-26) OFF

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (24-34) lost 11-3 (BOX SCORE)

Rough game for Quad Cities. They fell behind early finding themselves down 6-0 after 3 innings. Ferrell got the start and gave up 6 runs over 2.2 innings. Nelson relieved him and ended up giving up just 1 run over 4.1 innings. Quad Cities got on the board with a Ballard RBI single scoring McCall who doubled. In the 4th inning the River Bandits put up two more runs on a 2 run single from Trompiz. Unfortunately that is all they would get. Whitt finished off the game giving up 4 runs in 2 innings.
