Houston Astros Minor League Recap: May 9th
Three of the four teams in the Astros system in action. See how the prospects performed last night.
AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (13-17) lost 8-6 (BOX SCORE)
This was a back and forth game with Fresno ultimately falling. Fresno scored two in the top of the first thanks to an RBI double from Moran scoring Kemp, and Moran eventually scoring on an error. Valdez got the start but struggled giving up 5 runs in 4 innings of work. Aplin hit a solo HR in the 2nd inning, his first HR of the season. Fresno tied the game in the 8th with a 2 run single from Perez but it wasn’t enough as El Paso scored 3 in the bottom of the 8th.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (15-15) won 8-5 (BOX SCORE)
This win takes Corpus back to .500. They jumped out to an early lead scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the first. Ramsay had an RBI double and Davis had a 2 run single in the first. Holmes got the start and was solid allowing 3 ER in 5.1 IP with 7 K. Davis double and scored on a Hyde single for the 5th run for the Hooks. In the bottom of the 6th Alex Bregman unloaded a HR to left, his 6th HR on the season. Davis also homered, his 2nd of the season. He now has 6 hits ad 7 RBI in his last 3 starts. Guduan returned to the Hooks and pitched a perfect 9th with 2 strikeouts.

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (13-17) won 12-4 (BOX SCORE)
Great offensive day for QC as they compiled 13 hits for 12 runs. They also scored in each of the first four innings. Kyle Tucker had an RBI single in the first, then proceeded to steal 2nd and 3rd base. In the bottom of the 2nd Wernes had an BRI double and Tucker followed with a 2 run double to stretch the lead. In the bottom of the 3rd Goedert hit a 2 run HR to right field, his 2nd of the season. Winkelman got the start and was great through the five innings but ran into a bit of trouble 6th inning but still finished with a solid line. Heremelyn and Correa both had run scoring doubles in the 8th to extend the lead. Deemes finished the game allowing just 1 ER in 3.1 IP. Tucker finished with 3 RBI and 3 SB and now has 14 SB on the season.
