Houston Astros Minor League Recap: May 26th
All four teams in action with Quad Cities playing a double header. See how the prospects performed last night.
AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (21-25) won 5-4 (BOX SCORE)
Fresno squeaks out a win over OKC. Kemmer got the scoring started for Fresno with a solo HR in the 2nd inning, his 3rd HR of the season. Rodgers got the start for Fresno and finished allowing 4 earned runs over 6.2 innings with 4 strikeouts. Fresno went into the 5th down 2-1 and then dropped a three spot thanks to an RBI single from Fontana and a 2 run double from Worth. Tucker would add to a lead with a solo HR in the 6th, his first in AAA. Gustave and Hoyt combined to pitch 2.1 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (28-18) lost 8-4 (BOX SCORE)
Corpus fell behind early and though they mounted a comeback, it wasn’t enough. Smith got the start and got roughed up giving up 8 ER over 3.2 innings. Word at the park was Smith was possibly dealing with an illness. Heredia came in to relive him and he pitched great striking out 5 over 3.1 scoreless innings. Corpus was able to get 3 runs in the seventh with a JD Davis sac fly and a 2 run double from Garcia. Bregman then added an RBI double in the 8th for the 4th run. Freeman pitched a scoreless 8th and 9th inning but Corpus was unable to score again.

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (21-24) won 29-11 (BOX SCORE)
No that is not a typo. Lancaster seriously had 29 runs last night. They were down 3-0 going into the second inning when the put up 4 runs thanks to a 2 run single from Martin and an RBI double from Boyd. Lancaster would then put up 7 runs in the 3rd inning. In that inning Muniz had an RBI single, Martin had a 3 run HR (5), Boyd had a 2 run double, and Stubbs had a sac fly. They would then score 8 in the 3rd capped by Laureano grand slam. Lancaster would go on to score 10 more runs with homers from Muniz, Marlow, Boyd, and Stubbs. Boyd drove in 9 runs last night. Ryan Deemes pitched the last three innings giving up just 1 earned run and striking out 3.

GAME 1 – won 5-3 (BOX SCORE)
Nelson got the start and gave up 3 earned runs in four innings of work. The QC offense was quiet until the 4th inning when McCall hit a solo HR, his 2nd of the season. In the 5th inning McCall had an RBI double and Porter added a 2 run HR. Garza finished the game with 3 scoreless innings.

GAME 2 – won 4-3 (BOX SCORE)
Abreu got the start for QC and gave up 3 runs in the first two innings but would really settle down after that. He finished going 6.2 IP allowing 3 ER with 8 K. QC entered the 5th down 3-0 and they scored four runs with a sac fly from Straw, RBI single from Michelena, RBI single from Goedert, and a sac fly from Hermelyn. The four runs was enough to win the game.
