Houston Astros Minor League Recap: May 5th

Rough night in the Astros farm system as every team went home with a loss. See how the prospects performed last night.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (12-14) lost 3-2 (BOX SCORE)

Hauschild got the start for the Grizzlies and he didn’t pitch bad giving up 3 runs over 5.2 innings with 0 BB/6 K. Unfortunately Fresno’s offense was only able to muster two runs. Perez and Singleton each had an RBI. The bullpen was solid again for Fresno with Gustave going 1.2 IP and striking out 2.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (12-14) lost 13-0 (BOX SCORE)

Bregman made his return to the Hooks lineup returning from his DL stint. He finished with one hit, a double. The pitching was not good last night and Sneed had his first bad outing as an Astro giving up 7 runs in 3 IP. On the positive side, Cotton pitched 3 innings giving up just 1 run and Freeman pitched a scoreless 8th inning. The only hit besides Bregman’s double was a single from Mayfield.

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (10-15) lost 4-1 (BOX SCORE)

The game got off to a rough start with Inland Empire scoring 2 in the first inning and 1 in the 3rd and 5th innings. Thornton gave up the four runs but finished with 6 IP, 5 K. Laureano had an RBI double and Tanielu had another hit. Tanielu is hitting .326 on the season. Garcia had two hits raising his average to .254, which is a huge jump considering 10 games ago he was hitting .083.

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (11-16) lost 1-0 (BOX SCORE)

Tough loss for QC as they outhit Lansing 10-1 but lost 1-0. Three guys had multiple hits, two extra base hits, and two stolen bases but no runs for the River Bandits.
