NOTABLES
Luis De Leon, C
De Leon has been in the Astros system for a couple years and had a breakout performance in the FCL in 2026. The 19-year-old played in 38 games for the Astros and hit .390 with 8 doubles, 4 home runs, 23 runs batted in and 21 walks to 16 strikeouts. He moved up to Fayetteville but had an injury that limited him to just 13 games. It was a good season for the young catcher and one he can build on in 2027.
Adrian Ardines, RHP
Feels like every year the FCL Astros have a pitcher that dominates. This year it was right-hander Adrian Ardines. The 19-year-old pitched in 12 games in the Florida Complex League and posted a 3.42 ERA with 56 strikeouts over 52.2 innings. Ardines also had a dominant outing in the FCL playoffs tossing 6 scoreless innings. He moved up to Fayetteville and added an additional 28 strikeouts in 19.2 innings.
Luis Rives, OF
Rives signed for a nice bonus a few years ago ($900,000) and has been in the FCL for three seasons. Each year his OPS has been improved with this year being his best. This year the 21-year-old outfielder hit .279 with 4 home runs, 21 runs batted in, 17 stolen bases and 32 walks to 28 strikeouts over 44 games. He should finally get a chance in Fayetteville next year and see if his success can carry over to full-season ball.
August Cuneo
Cuneo was signed as an undrafted free agent following the 2025 draft. He had some limited action for the Florida Complex League this season and performed well hitting .286 with an impressive 23 walks to 14 strikeouts over 19 games. Like Jagger Beck in 2024, this could be another nice find for the Astros as an undrafted player.
Ethan Wagner, OF
Wagner was drafted by the Astros in the 17th round of the 2024 draft. He was solid in 2025 and then got off to a great start this year before an injury. In the 17 games before the injury, Wagner had 3 doubles, 3 triples, a home run, 15 runs batted in and 13 walks to 12 strikeouts. It worked out to a .921 OPS, while also stealing 6 bases. Hopefully he is in Fayetteville in 2027.
