Who’s Hot At The Plate?
Ethan Frey – Frey had a slow start to the season and then turned it on in May before an injury sidelined him for a bit. He came back and this week was solid hitting .375 with a double, home run, 6 runs batted in and 2 stole bases. Overall, Frey is hitting .277 through 56 games this season.
Sebastian Mendez – Mendez was signed by the Astros this January and is putting together a solid season in the DSL. This week Mendez hit .357 with a double, triple, 3 runs batted in and 4 stolen bases. On the season he’s hitting .289 with 35 stolen bases over 29 games.
Anthony Millan – Millan was signed in January 2025 for $472,500. After spending 2025 in the DSL, he is repeating there and improving. This week Millan hit .417 with 2 doubles, a home run and 7 runs batted in. He has a .821 OPS with more walks than strikeouts in 23 games.

Who’s Hot On The Mound?
James Hicks – Hicks has been up and down this year for the Hooks but has turned in some strong outings, and he ends up on the list in back to back weeks. This week the right-hander allowed 2 runs over 6 innings while striking out 7 batters. He’s racked up 73 strikeouts over 80.1 innings this season.
Jesus Carrera – Carrera was solid in 2025 but had some struggles this season but turned in one of his better outings this week allowing 1 run over 5 innings. On the season he has 54 strikeouts over 56.2 innings with a 6.35 ERA for Single-A Fayetteville.
Bryce Mayer – Mayer has posted some pretty dominant numbers this season and had a nice start for the Hooks this week striking out 8 batters over 5 scoreless innings. In Double-A this season he has a 3.16 ERA with 82 strikeouts over 57 innings, good for a 12.9 K/9 rate.
