Let’s take a look at the best performances in the Astros system in June.

Previous POTM:
AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys
HITTER: Pascanel Ferreras, INF
- June Stats: 20 G, .370 BA/.460 OBP/.562 SLG, 6 2B, 3B, 2 HR, 19 RBI, 4 SB
Ferreras got off to a decent start in Corpus Christi but he got promoted to Triple-A at the beginning of June and took off. Over 20 games, the infielder hit .370 with 6 doubles, 2 home runs, 19 runs batted in and a 1.021 OPS. Overall this season he’s hitting .313 in 51 games.
PITCHER: Ethan Pecko, RHP
- June Stats: 5 G, 2.48 ERA, 29.0 IP, 21 H, 8 ER, 6 BB, 20 SO
Pecko started the season a little slow dealing with some injuries but he had his best month in June. Over five starts, the Right-hander tossed 29 innings while striking out 20 batters and posting a 2.48 ERA. This included a few dominant outings where he went 7 innings for Sugar Land.
AA: Corpus Christi Hooks
HITTER: Drew Brutcher, 1B/OF
- June Stats: 22 G, .387 BA/.531 OBP/.693 SLG, 9 2B, 3B, 4 HR, 28 RBI, 22 BB
The Astros signed Brutcher prior to the 2025 season and he has put together a really strong 2026 season. He earned a promoted to Double-A and in June he batted .387 with 9 doubles, 4 home runs, 28 runs batted in and more walks than strikeouts. He’s hitting .304 over 60 games this season.
Honorable Mention – Lucas Spence, OF
PITCHER: Brett Gillis, RHP
- June Stats: 4 G, 1.71 ERA, 21.0 IP, 13 H, 4 ER, 10 BB, 20 SO
Gillis has dealt with his fair share of injuries in the minors but now healthy, he is having his best season. In June, the right-hander posted a 1.71 ERA while striking out 20 batters over 21 innings. He has a 3.45 ERA over 62.2 innings in Double-A this season.
A+: Asheville Tourists
HITTER: Caden Powell, OF
- June Stats: 22 G, .299 BA/.410 OBP/.552 SLG, 4 2B, 6 HR, 18 RBI, 4 SB
Powell is putting together a really strong year after dealing with an injury last year. In June, Powell hit .299 with 4 doubles, 6 home runs, 18 runs batted in and 4 stolen bases. Overall this season the 22-year-old is hitting .296 with 10 home run and 15 stolen bases for High-A Asheville.
Honorable Mention – Jack Moss, OF
PITCHER: Parker Smith, RHP
- June Stats: 4 G, 3.26 ERA, 19.1 IP, 18 H, 7 ER, 7 BB, 18 K
Smith got off to a slow start this season but has his best month of the season in June. Over four games, the right-hander posted a 3.26 ERA while striking out 18 batters over 19.1 innings.
A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers
HITTER: Anthony Huezo, OF
- June Stats: 21 G, .309 BA/.404 OBP/.691 SLG, 10 2B, 7 HR, 16 RBI, 9 SB
Huezo has been one of the best performing prospects in the system this year. He had a monster month of June where he hit .309 with 10 doubles, 7 home runs, 16 runs batted in and 9 stolen bases. Overall the 20-year-old has a .894 OPS with 19 doubles and 14 home runs this season.
Honorable Mention – Arturo Flores, C
PITCHER: Nick Potter, RHP
- June Stats: 4 G, 0.55 ERA, 16.1 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 8 BB, 17 K
Potter was a 5th round pick last year and made the transition from college closer to starter. In June he was great posting a 0.55 ERA while striking out 17 batters over 16.1 innings. The right-hander has a 1.76 ERA over 41 innings for the Woodpeckers this season. Read more on him here.
