Astros 2026 Mock Draft Roundup: Volume 1

The 2026 MLB Draft is a few months way but the Astros have more draft capital than they’ve had in years. The Astros first selection will be pick #17 in the first round, and hoping to add another top talent to the system. As the mock drafts are coming in hot, this is a list of who the draft pundits have the Astros taking in July.

MLB Pipeline:

Ace Reese, 3B, Mississippi State

“Reese’s carrying tool is his plus power, which he generates with the strength in his 6-foot-4, 220-pound frame and the bat speed and leverage in his left-handed stroke. He can homer to any part of a ballpark and pounds both lefties and righties. He can get a bit aggressive at times but is making progress with his swing decisions and some evaluators think he could become a solid hitter with 25-30 homers per year.”

Baseball America:

Tyler Bell, SS, Kentucky

“Bell missed time with a shoulder injury early in the season and has only played 21 games. He returned to the lineup in mid March as a designated hitter, and then after 10 games moved back to shortstop. He’s been an on-base machine when he has been on the field and is hitting .355/.574/.581 with a 23.4% walk rate.”

Bleacher Nation:

Justin Lebron, SS, Alabama

“Lebron has added 15 pounds and significant bat speed in college, giving him well-above-average raw power from the right side of the plate, and he also has good feel for driving balls in the air. All the rest of Lebron’s tools grade as plus, as does his makeup, and some evaluators think he’s even better than that as a defender despite an uncharacteristically erratic spring. He has a quick first step that allows him to steal bases and cover plenty of ground to both sides at shortstop.”

Bleacher Report:

Tyler Spangler, SS, De La Salle HS (CA)

“Spangler has great bat-to-ball skills and one of the safest profiles from the 2026 prep class. He has the athleticism to stick at shortstop and the offensive ceiling to handle a shift to third base if needed as he grows into his 6’3”, 195-pound frame. He could potentially overtake Jacob Lombard to be the second prep shortstop off the board, and offers a nice mix of ceiling and floor from an often volatile demographic.

Perfect Game:

Caden Sorrell, OF, Texas A&M

“Sorrell is another first rounder from that Aggies order. He offers a good glove in the outfield with power upside in the box… he consistently is hitting the baseball hard and getting it in the air to maximize his power output. Left-handed stick in the SEC that has been a producer going on three years now.”
