As we inch closer to the 2026 season, I am going to give top three prospects at each position. This will be based on where they currently play and also where they may end up. This will culminate with my newly updated top 30 prospects before the season starts. This week, we finished with left-handed pitchers
Previous Top Three:
1. Trey Dombroski
Dombroski was drafted by the Astros in the 4th round of the 2022 draft after a standout career at Monmouth University, including 14 BB/130 K in 95 innings as a junior. The lefty stands at 6’5″ and 235 lbs. While he doesn’t blow you away with his stuff, he really knows how to pitch and has good command allowing him to keep hitters off balance as he hits his spots. Dombroski has posted some good numbers in the minors and after a tough 2024 season, he’s turned things around posting a 3.95 ERA across Double-A and Triple-A in 2025. Read more on Dombroski here.
2. Colby Langford
Langford was drafted in the 17th round in the 2023 draft. He is a 6’3″ left handed pitcher who led NJCAA D2 in strikeouts with 128 the season he was drafted. While he won’t blow you away, he has great movement on his stuff and generates a lot of whiffs. In 2025, he put together a strong season posting a 3.26 ERA with 87 strikeouts in 60.2 innings, pitching all in relief. The main down side was that he walked 63 batters, though he allowed just 36 hits, good for a .177 batting average against. A good season to build on if he can get his command under control, especially given the lack of left-handers in the system.
