This will be your weekly hot list of prospects who are performing well at the plate and on the mound. Here is last week’s hotlist. Below is the new hotlist for Week Nineteen.
Who’s Hot At The Plate?
Zach Cole – Cole recently received a promotion to Triple-A after hitting well in Double-A and his production didn’t stop with the move up. In six games this week, Cole hit .368 with a double, 3 home runs and 5 runs batted in. He has a .895 OPS with 17 home runs, 15 stolen bases overall this year.
Shay Whitcomb – Whitcomb has yet to get an extended look at the big league level but he continues to produce in Triple-A. This week across four games, Whitcomb hit .429 with a double, 2 home runs and 4 runs batted in. Overall he is hitting .278 with 21 home runs and a .896 OPS in Triple-A.
Chase Call – Call was selected by the Astros in the 16th round of the 2025 draft this year and had a breakout week this week for the Woodpeckers. In six games he hit .368 with 5 doubles, a home run and 4 runs batted in. He also drew 5 walks to 4 strikeouts. He has a .804 OPS in 24 games since the draft.
Zach Daudet – Daudet was the Astros 10th round pick in this year’s draft signing for just $7,500 but has been a nice find. This week for the Woodpeckers the 22-year-old hit .368 with 8 walks to 5 strikeouts. He’s now hitting .350 over his last 12 games, including 15 walks, and is hitting .296 overall.
Yamal Encarnacion – Encarnacion put together his best week of the season for Asheville. He played in five games and hit .474 with a double, triple, and a run batted in. Overall the 21-year-old is hitting .250 in High-A and .322 with 4 doubles and 7 stolen bases over his lat 15 games.
Who’s Hot On The Mound?
Jesus Carrera – Carrera has put together a really strong year between FCL and Fayetteville. This week for the Woodpeckers the right-hander pitched in two games and racked up 9 strikeouts over 6.1 scoreless innings. Overall this season he has a 1.69 ERA with 58 strikeouts in 37.1 innings between FCL and Single-A.
Jackson Nezuh – Nezuh has had a rough season dealing with some injuries but he was back to his 2024 form this week. He started two games for the Hooks and allowed 1 run over 11 innings allowing just 6 hits and racking up 7 strikeouts. He has a 2.25 ERA over his last four outings in Double-A.
Parker Smith – Smith was the Astros 4th round pick in 2024. After some injuries early, he’s settled in at Fayetteville nicely and had a big week. The right-hander pitched in two games and racked up 12 strikeouts over 10.2 innings while allowing 2 earned runs. He has a 2.33 ERA with 3 BB/28 K over his last five outings.
Javier Perez – Perez took home honors for pitcher of the year in the FCL and he has continued his success in Single-A. This week he had one outing and allowing one run over 5 innings while striking out 6. Overall he has a 2.15 ERA with 10 walks to 65 strikeouts in 62.2 innings between FCL and Fayetteville.
Miguel Ullola – After a rough start to the season, Ullola has turned things around over his last few starts. The week the right-hander made one start for Sugar Land and pitched well allowing 1 run over 6 innings while striking out 6. Even more important is he has walked just 2 over his last 12 innings.
Trey Dombroski – Dombroski has put together a solid season with more ups than downs. This week he had a great outing tossing 5 scoreless innings allowing just 3 this while striking out 5. Overall this year the left-hander has a 3.92 ERA with 96 strikeouts in 98.2 innings in Double-A.
