Astros Minor League Recap: September 2nd

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (65-65) won 5-1 (BOX SCORE)

Sugar Land got the scoring started in the first inning getting two 2 run homers from Cole and Singleton. Ullola started for Sugar Land and dominated tossing 6 no-hit innings with 7 strikeouts. The offense picked up another run in the 7th on a double play. Weems allowed a run in relief but Murray and Contreras shut the door on the 5-1 Sugar Land win.

Note: Ullola has a 3.46 ERA this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (43-82) won 2-1 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks got on the board in the first inning on a Martinez run scoring double. Urias got the start and pitched well tossing 4 scoreless innings. Dombroski pitched in relief and allowed 1 run over 4.2 innings. The game went to extra innings and in the 10th, the Hooks took the lead on a Ferreras RBI double. Perez came on and got the last out as the Hooks won 2-1.

Note: Dombroski has a 3.83 ERA this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (51-72) lost 2-1 (BOX SCORE)

Asheville got on the board in the 3rd inning getting a Nunez sac fly. Howard started for Asheville and was dominant tossing 5 no-hit innings with 7 strikeouts. The Hot Rods got 2 runs in the 6th inning as they took a 2-1 lead. The offense struggled the rest of the way as Asheville fell 2-1.

Note: Howard has a 2.25 ERA in High-A.
