Houston Astros Prospect Profile: Anderson Brito

Anderson Brito – RHP

HT/WT: 5’10″/155 | Bat/Throw: R/R | School/Country: Venezuela | DOB: 07/07/04

Overview:

Brito was signed by the Astros out of Venezuela for a pretty low bonus of $10,000 in 2023. He has had a really quick rise to this point starting the 2024 season in the Dominican Summer League and making his way to Single-A, which is pretty uncommon. In 2024 at 19 years old, Brito had 82 K in 53.2 innings with a 1.51 ERA.

Despite being smaller in stature, listed at 5’10” and 155 lbs, he has a monster fastball that sits around 96 MPH and can tough 99. He also has a good slider and changeup too. Brito received an aggressive promotion to start the 2025 season with the Astros placing him in High-A. Unfortunately, he ended up on the IL this season but has shown off his potential.

Baseball America had the following to say about Brito: “Brito’s arsenal consists of a four-seam fastball, slider, cutter and changeup. His four-seamer is a plus pitch that sits 94-96 mph and touches 99 with above-average ride and a flat vertical approach angle. His slider sits 83-85 mph with some ride and heavy sweep. It’s a good bat-missing pitch, but he needs to sharpen his command. His third pitch is an upper-80s changeup that lacks vertical and velocity separation off his fastball.”
