This will be your weekly hot list of prospects who are performing well at the plate and on the mound. Here is last week’s hotlist. Below is the new hotlist for Week Eighteen.

Who’s Hot At The Plate?

Jancel Villarroel – Villarroel has been a great find for the Astros. The 20-year-old catcher started the year in Single-A and had a .746 OPS earning a promotion to High-A. He had his best week in High-A this week hitting .533 with a double, a home run and a 1.333 OPS in four games.

Pedro Leon – Leon has had a rough season dealing with some injuries but he’s finally healthy and on a rehab assignment in Sugar Land. This week in four games for the Space Cowboys he hit .353 with a double, 2 home runs and 6 runs batted in, good for a 1.118 OPS.

Zach Daudet – Daudet was the Astros 10th round pick in this year’s draft. The infielder played in six games for the Woodpeckers this week and hit .333 with 3 doubles, 7 runs batted in and 7 walks to just 2 strikeouts. He has 15 RBI in 18 games this season with a nice 11 BB/13 SO ratio.

Lucas Spence – Spence has had a big year as an undrafted free agent but has been on another level since his promotion to Double-A. This week he hit .294 with 3 doubles, 2 runs batted in and an insane 11 walks to 4 strikeouts. Overall he is hitting .298 with a 1.046 OPS in 16 Double-A games.

Who’s Hot On The Mound?

Miguel Ullola – Ullola came into the season as a potential favorite to big a call-up but some struggles with command halted that. This week he had his best outing of the year tossing 6 scoreless innings allowing just 2 hits, 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. Overall he has 109 K in 89.1 innings.

Rafael Gonzalez – Gonzalez has had a bit of an up and down season but this week he had a strong outing. In his one start for the Woodpeckers, the right-hander went 5.2 innings allowing 1 run while striking out 4. He has 54 K in 54.2 innings this year in Single-A for the Woodpeckers.

Parker Smith – Smith was the Astros 4th round pick in 2024. After some injuries early, he’s settled in at Fayetteville and after a nice start last week, he followed it up with his best outing this week. He went 6 innings allowing 2 runs while striking out 9 and not walking any batters.

Alonzo Tredwell – Tredwell was the Astros second round pick in 2023 and after some injuries, the right-hander has put together a strong year. This week in two outings for Corpus Christi he allowed 3 runs over 9 innings while striking out 16. Overall he has 108 K in 93.1 innings.
