Astros Minor League Recap: August 27th

Another day of Astros minor league baseball in the books! See the results below. Check out the previous day’s recap here.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (62-63) won 4-3 (BOX SCORE)

Sugar Land got on the board in the 2nd inning on a Cole solo HR, his first Triple-A homer. They got another run in the 5th inning on a Barber RBI double. Ullola got the start and was great allowing 1 run over 6 innings while striking out 6. In the 6th, the offense got 2 runs on a Short 2 run HR. The pen allowed a couple of runs but held on for the 4-3 win.

Note: Ullola has a 3.68 ERA this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (43-78) won 6-1 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks got on the board in the 2nd inning on a double steal where Baez stole home. They got 3 more runs in the 4th inning on an error, Ferreras RBI single and Spence RBI single. Dombroski got the start and was great tossing 5 scoreless innings with 5 strikeouts. The offense added 2 more runs in the 8th on a Williams RBI single and a wild pitch. David allowed a run in the 9th but the pen held on for the 6-1 win.

Note: Williams is hitting .280 this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (50-68) won 13-8 (BOX SCORE)

Asheville got on the board in the first inning scoring 5 runs on a Nunez 2 run HR, Holy RBI double and Schiavone 2 run single. Cruz got the start and went 3.2 innings allowing 4 runs. The offense added 3 runs in the 4th inning on an Encarnacion RBI triple, Janek RBI single and a run on an error. In the 5th, Brutcher added a 2 run HR. In the 7th the offense got 3 more runs on a Janek 2 run double and a run on a wild pitch. Rodriguez closed it out allowing 4 runs over 4 innings, but the offense did more than enough as Asheville won 13-8.

Note: Janek has a .787 OPS this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (65-57) lost 5-3 (BOX SCORE)

Aguilar got the start and went 3 innings allowing 4 runs, 3 earned. The offense got on the board in the 2nd inning on a Ramirez RBI single. Perez was next in and pitched well striking out 6 over 5 innings allowing 1 run. The offense got 2 runs back in the 7th inning on a Frey RBI single and Monistere sac fly. That was it from the offense though as the Woodpeckers fell 5-3.

Note: Perez has a 3.15 ERA in Single-A.
