Astros Minor League Recap: August 22nd

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (59-62) lost 3-2 (BOX SCORE)

Ivey got the start for Sugar Land and allowed 2 runs over 4.1 innings. The offense got on the board in the 6th on a Price RBI single and another run in the 8th on a Price bases loaded walk. The game went to extra innings and in the 10th, the Cubs walked it off as Sugar Land fell 3-2.

Note: Price has a .756 OPS this season.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (41-76) won 12-4 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks jumped out to a big lead scoring 7 runs in the third inning on a Cole 2 run triple, Austin groundout and Garcia grand slam. Hicks got the start and pitched well tossing 4.2 scoreless innings. Perez struggled in relief allowing 4 runs as Frisco got closer. The offense extended the lead though scoring 4 in the 7th on a Williams walk, Bush single and walks to Sacco and Spence. The offense got another run in the 8th on an RBI single. The pen closed out the 12-4 win.

Note: Cole has a .868 OPS this season.

A+: Asheville Tourists (49-66) won 3-1 (BOX SCORE)

DeVos started for Asheville and pitched well allowing 1 unearned run while striking out 3 over 4 innings. The offense got on the board in the third inning on a Villarroel RBI single. Asheville took the lead in the 5th on a Janek RBI single. Villarroel added a solo HR in the 6th inning. Cruz closed it out with 3 scoreless innings as Asheville won 3-1.

Note: Villarroel is hitting .264 in High-A.

A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (62-56) lost 9-5 (BOX SCORE)

Verdugo got the start but struggled allowing 4 runs over 1.1 innings. The offense got on the board in the 6th on a Monistere RBI single and Daudet bases loaded walk. The pen allowed 5 runs as the Nationals extended their lead. The offense got 3 runs back in the 9th on a Frey RBI single and Daudet 2 run single but that was it as the Woodpeckers fell 9-5.

Note: Frey has 12 RBI in 17 games.
