Astros Minor League Recap: August 16th

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (56-60) won 4-2 (BOX SCORE)

Sugar Land got on the board in the 2nd inning on a Palma RBI double. They picked up 2 more runs in the 3rd inning on an error and Whitcomb sac fly. Price would add an RBI single in the 4th. Ivey got the start and was solid allowing 2 runs over 5 innings. After a scoreless inning from Santa, Fleury closed it out with 3 scoreless as Sugar Land won 4-2.

Note: Palma has a .808 OPS in Triple-A.

  • Tyler Ivey, RHP: 5.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 5 K (WIN)
  • Alimber Santa, RHP: 1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K
  • Jose Fleury, RHP: 3.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 K (SAVE)

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (39-73) won 10-4 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks got on the board in the first inning on a Guillemette RBI single. They scored another run in the third on a wild pitch. In the 4th, the offense got 4 runs on a Clarke RBI single, Cole RBI double and Guillemette 2 run single. Hicks got the start and went 4 innings allowing 3 runs. The Hooks offense got another run in the 7th on a Baez RBI single. The offense added 3 more runs in the 9th on a Spence 2 run double and Cole RBI single. The pen allowed one run but held on for the 10-4 win.

Note: Spence has a 1.029 OPS in Double-A.


A+: Asheville Tourists (47-64) won 4-1 (BOX SCORE)

Santos started for Asheville and pitched well allowing just one hit over 5 scoreless innings. The offense got on the board in the 4th on a Holy RBI single. They picked up another run in the 6th on a Nunez sac fly. In the 7th, the offense scored 2 runs on a Salas 2 run double. David tossed 3 scoreless in relief and Almonte allowed a run in the 9th but closed out the 4-1 win.

Note: Nunez is hitting .274 this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (61-51) won 3-2 (BOX SCORE)

Ogando got the start and went 2 innings allowing 2 runs. The Woodpeckers got on the board in the 3rd on a Monistere RBI single. They tied it up in the 4th on a Flores RBI single. Martich pitched in relief and tossed 4 scoreless innings. In the 8th, Flores gave the Woodpeckers the lead with an RBI single. Frias tossed 3 scoreless innings to close out the 3-2 win.

Note: Frey is hitting .297 this season.
