This will be your weekly hot list of prospects who are performing well at the plate and on the mound. Here is last week’s hotlist. Below is the new hotlist for Week Thirteen.
Who’s Hot At The Plate?
Joseph Sullivan – Three weeks in a row now for Sullivan on the hotlist. The 22-year-old played in four games this week for Asheville and he hit .429 with 2 doubles and a home run while collecting 4 stolen bases. He has 15 HR, 31 SB and 61 walks over 69 games for High-A Asheville this season.
Zach Cole – Cole has been quite the anomaly this year. When he’s hot, he is hot and this week he swung it well. This week he’s on the list again after clobbering 5 home runs and driving in 11 runs over 6 games for the Hooks. He now has a .863 OPS with 13 HR, 13 SB in 49 games for the Hooks this year.
Walker Janek – Janek, the Astros first round pick in 2024, has slowly started to get things going. This week he played in 4 games for Asheville and had 2 doubles and 2 home runs. He has 15 doubles, 6 home runs and a .803 OPS in 49 games for Asheville this season. He also has a 141 wRC+ over his last 35 games.
Kevin Alvarez – Alvarez was a big dollar signing for the Astros this year and he has shown early to be worth it. The 17-year-old had another strong week hitting .467 with a double, a home run and 4 runs batted in over 5 games. Even more impressive is he has struck out just 9 times in 22 games while hitting .342.
Who’s Hot On The Mound?
Bryce Mayer -Mayer has been one of the best pitchers from the 2024 draft and this week he took on a new challenge in a promotion to Double-A. In his Double-A debut, Mayer allowed 1 run over 5 innings while striking out 6. Overall this season, he has a 3.11 ERA with 81 K in 63.2 innings.
Tyler Ivey – Ivey has been up and down a bit this year, but he was solid in his one start this week for Sugar Land allowing just 1 run over 6 innings. His season ERA isn’t pretty, but given the injuries the Astros have faced, if he can string some good outings together he could get another shot.
Juan Bello – The Astros acquired Bello in the deal that sent Pressly to the Cubs. Following a strong 2024, Bello got off to a rough start in 2025. He turned it around recently and is on this list two weeks in a row. This week he went 5 innings allowing 1 run and striking out 8. He has a 2.72 ERA over his last 10 outings.
Trey Dombroski – Dombroski has been one of the better pitchers in the Astros system this season and he continued to pitch well this week striking out 3 over 5 scoreless innings for the Hooks. He has a 2.78 ERA with 61 K in 64.2 innings over 15 games for the Hooks this season.
