Astros Minor League Recap: July 30th

Another day of Astros minor league baseball in the books! See the results below. Check out the previous day’s recap here.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (51-50) lost 8-6 (BOX SCORE)

Sugar Land jumped out to a big lead scoring 5 runs in the first inning on RBI singles from Narvaez and Castro and a Salazar 3 run HR. In the 2nd inning, Peña connected on a solo HR. Javier started for Sugar Land and went 3.1 innings allowing 3 runs while striking out 3. The pen struggled with Fleury and Santa allowing 5 runs and the offense was quiet the rest of the way as Sugar Land fell 8-6.

Note: Bastidas leads the system with 29 doubles this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (33-64) lost 1-0 (BOX SCORE)

Urias got the start for the Hooks and pitched well tossing 4 scoreless innings. Urias was relieved by Swanson who went 3.2 innings allowing 1 unearned run. The offense struggled all night though. Despite collecting 9 hits and drawing 5 walks, they were unable to push a run across as they fell 1-0.

Note: Sullivan has a 1.023 OPS with the Hooks.


A+: Asheville Tourists (41-55) lost 9-1 (BOX SCORE)

Santos got the start but struggled allowing 7 runs over 3.1 innings. The offense got one back in the 4th on a Janek sac fly. David tossed 3 scoreless innings in relief but Leach allowed 2 more runs in the 9th as the Spartanburgers extended their lead. The offense struggled though collecting just 4 hits as they fell 9-1.

Note: David has a 2.08 ERA in High-A.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (50-45) won 5-0 (BOX SCORE)

McPherson got the start and pitched well striking out 6 over 5 scoreless innings. The Woodpeckers got on the board in the 3rd on a wild pitch. In the 5th, Perez connected on a 2 run HR. The offense played add on in the 6th scoring 2 runs on a Luciano RBI double and Huezo RBI single. Howard closed it out tossing 4 scoreless innings as the Woodpeckers won 5-0.

Note: Howard has a 3.29 ERA this season.
