Astros Minor League Recap: May 1st

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (15-15) won 3-0 (BOX SCORE)

Ullola started for Sugar Land and pitched really well tossing 5 scoreless innings while allowing just one hit. Price put Sugar Land on the board in the 4th inning on an RBI single. Price added 2 more runs in the 8th on a 2 run double.

Note: Price has a .812 OPS this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (8-16) won 3-0 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks got on the board in the 4th inning on a Castro RBI single and a Cole steal of home. They added another run in the 5th on a Lavastida solo HR. Urias made his Double-A debut and was solid allowing 1 run over 5 innings of work. The bullpen was solid with Knorr and Guilfoil tossing 2 scoreless innings each as they closed out the 3-1 win.

Note: Knorr has a 3.27 ERA this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (10-14)

Game 1 – lost 5-3 (BOX SCORE)

Sullivan started off the game well connecting on a leadoff homer, his 5th of the year. Bello got the start but struggled allowing 4 runs over 4.1 innings of work. The offense got another run in the 3rd on a Gonzalez sac fly. They picked up another in the 5th on a Gonzalez RBI single. Apker allowed a run in relief and the offense was unable to score again as Asheville dropped game one 5-3.

Note: Sullivan has a .954 OPS this season.

  • Juan Bello, RHP: 4.1 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
  • Garrett Apker, RHP: 1.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 1 K

Game 2 – won 4-3 (BOX SCORE)

Asheville got on the board in the first inning on a Gonzalez sac fly. Brito got the start and was solid allowing 1 run over 4 innings of work. In the 5th, Asheville took the lead on a Guillemette solo HR. They got 2 more runs in the 6th on a wild pitch and a Gonzalez RBI double. Perez allowed 2 runs in relief but held on for the 4-3 win.

Note: Brito has a 3.07 ERA this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (13-11) won 6-2 (BOX SCORE)

The Woodpeckers got on the board in the first inning on a Powell solo HR. In the 3rd, Powell connected on another solo HR. David got the start and was solid allowing 1 run over 4 innings. The offense added 2 more runs in the 4th on a Cauro solo HR and Powell RBI single. They got another in the 5th on a fielder’s choice and then one more in the 6th on a Brutcher RBI single. Rodriguez went the final 5 innings allowing 1 run and striking out 6.

Note: Rodriguez has a 1.23 ERA this season.
