Astros Minor League Recap: May 18th

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (27-18) won 3-0 (BOX SCORE)

Ivey started for Sugar Land and pitched really well tossing 6 scoreless innings while striking out 8. Sugar Land got on the board in the 7th on a Price solo HR, a run on an error and a Short RBI single. The pen was great with Hernandez, Weiman and Contreras tossing scoreless outings as Sugar Land won 3-0.

Note: Hernandez has a 1.47 ERA in Triple-A.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (12-26) POSTPONED

A+: Asheville Tourists (18-21) won 6-2 (BOX SCORE)

Asheville got on the board in the 2nd inning on a Vogel solo HR. They got another run in the 3rd on a Sullivan solo HR. Brito started for the Tourists and went 3.2 innings allowing 2 runs. In the 5th, Austin gave Asheville the lead with a 2 run HR. Sullivan would add another homer, this time a 2 run shot, to make it 6-2. Bello tossed 4 scoreless in relief and Chirinos tossed a scoreless 9th to close it out.

Note: Sullivan has a .985 OPS this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (19-20) lost 9-5 (BOX SCORE)

The Woodpeckers got on the board in the first inning on a Powell 2 run HR. Rodriguez started for Fayetteville but struggled allowing 7 runs over 3.1 innings. The offense got 2 runs back in the 4th on Hernandez and Fisher solo homers. They got another run in the 8th on a Brutcher RBI single. The pen allowed a couple runs as Fayetteville dropped the series finale 9-5.

Note: Brutcher is hitting .336 this season.
