Astros Minor League Recap: April 26th

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (12-14) won 2-0 (BOX SCORE)

Gordonn started for the Hooks and was great tossing 7 scoreless innings with 8 strikeouts. The offense got on the board in the 3rd on a Whitcomb RBI double. They got another run in the 4th when a run scored on a double play. The pen closed it out with 2 scoreless innings as Sugar Land won 2-0.

Note: Gordon has a 2.59 ERA this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (6-14) won 5-1 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks got the scoring started in the 3rd inning on a Ferreras solo HR. McCullers started for the Hooks and was dominant striking out 7 over 5 scoreless innings in what should be his final rehab start. After Frisco tied it in the 6th, the Hooks responded with a Cole RBI single to take the lead. In the 8th, Wrobleski added some insurance with a 3 run HR. The pen was solid with scoreless innings from Sanchez, Bido and Guilfoil as they closed out the 5-1 win.

Note: Sanchez has a 2.70 ERA this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (8-11) lost 15-0 (BOX SCORE)

True started for Asheville and struggled allowing 8 runs over 4.2 innings. He was relieved by Apker who allowed 4 runs. The pen ended up allowing 3 more. The offense struggled collecting just 5 hits as they were shutout in the 15-0 loss.

Note: Nunez is hitting .298 this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (9-11) won 2-0 (BOX SCORE)

The Woodpeckers got on the board in the first inning on a Brutcher RBI single. Mayer started for the Woodpeckers and was dominant striking out 11 over 4 scoreless innings. In the 7th, Brutcher added another RBI single to make it 2-0. Ramsey relieved Mayer and tossed 4 scoreless innings of his own. Varela came on in the 9th and struck out 2 as he closed out the 2-0 win.

Note: Mayer has 27 K in 14.1 innings this season.
