Astros Minor League Recap: April 24th

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (11-13) won 7-6 (BOX SCORE)

Ivey started for Sugar Land but struggled a bit allowing 4 runs over 3.2 innings. The offense got on the board in the 3rd on a Short RBI single. They got a run in the 4th and 5th on Price and Hamilton RBI doubles. Murray relieved Ivey and allowed 2 runs. In the 6th, Bastidas added an RBI doubles and in the 7th, Salazar drew a bases loaded walk for another run. Matthews tied the game in the 8th with an RBI single. The game went to extra innings and in the 10th, Whitcomb drove in a run on a sac fly. The rest of the pen was solid tossing 5 scoreless as they closed out the 7-6 win.

Note: Hernandez has a 0.90 ERA this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (4-14) lost 4-0 (BOX SCORE)

Hicks started for the Hooks and allowed 3 runs, 2 earned over 4.2 innings. Santa allowed 1 run over 2.1 innings and Knorr tossed 2 scoreless innings. It was a struggle for the offense again as they were shutout in the 4-0 loss.

Note: Santa has a 1.42 ERA this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (8-9) lost 9-4 (BOX SCORE)

Pena got the start for Asheville but really struggled allowing 5 runs while retiring just 1 batter. After Linskey tossed 1.2 scoreless, Bello came in relief and allowed 2 runs over 3.2 innings. The offense got on the board in the bottom of the 3rd scoring a run on a wild pitch. The renegades added 2 runs in the 8th to extend the lead. Asheville got 2 runs in the 8th and 1 in the 9th but that was it as they fell 9-4.

Note: Sullivan has a .933 OPS this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (7-11) lost 3-0 (BOX SCORE)

Rodriguez started for the Woodpeckers and was solid allowing 2 runs over 5.1 innings while striking out 7. The pen tossed 2.2 innings allowing 1 run but the offense struggled on the night collecting just 4 hits as they were shutout in the 3-0 loss.

Note: Spence has a .908 OPS this season.
