Astros Minor League Recap: August 6th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (70-38) won 2-1 (BOX SCORE)

Kouba got the start for Sugar Land and pitched well allowing 1 hit and no runs over 5 innings of work. The offense got on the board in the first inning on a Kessinger RBI double. In the 2nd inning, Whitcomb added an RBI single. The bullpen was solid allowing 1 run as they closed out he 2-1 win.

Note: Whitcomb has 89 RBI this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (36-66) lost 5-4 (BOX SCORE)

Guilfoil got the start for the Hooks and went 3.2 innings allowing 3 runs. The offense got on the board in the 3rd inning on a Williams fielder’s choice. After the Wind Surge went up 4-1, the Hooks rallied back for 3 runs in 6th on a fielder’s choice and RBI singles from Deming and Ferreras. The game went to extras and in the 10th the Wind Surge picked up a run as the Hooks fell 5-4.

Note: Pecko has 105 K in 78.2 innings this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (43-58)

Game 1 – lost 13-6 (BOX SCORE)

This was a completion of a rain suspended game from June 30th.

Game 2 – lost 6-1 (BOX SCORE)

Pena got the start and went 4 innings allowing 4 runs, 2 earned with 6 strikeouts. The offense got on the board in the third on an Encarnacion RBI single. The pen allowed a couple of runs and the offense was quiet the rest of the way as Asheville fell 6-1.

Note: Janek picked up his first professional hit with a single to right field.
