Astros Minor League Recap: August 30th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

Here is the previous day’s recap.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (81-48) won 10-1 (BOX SCORE)

Sugar Land got on the board in the first inning scoring 2 runs on a Triple from Hamilton. They got another run in the 2nd inning on a Narvaez RBI single. Gordon got the start and while he struck out 7, he only went 2.2 innings allowing 1 run. Bastidas added 2 more runs in the 5th. The offense continued to add on scoring 3 in the 7th on a Melton 2 run HR and McCormick RBI single. In the 8th, Leon added a 2 run HR. The bullpen was great tossing 6.1 scoreless innings as Sugar Land won 10-1.

Note: Melton is hitting .417 over his last 11 games.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (47-75) won 2-1 (BOX SCORE)

Rodriguez started for the Hooks and was solid allowing 1 run over 5 innings of work. The offense got on the board in the 7th with a 2 out, 2 run triple from Arocho to take a 2-1 lead. The bullpen was dominant tossing 4 scoreless innings as the Hooks went on to win 2-1.

Note: Torres has a 0.00 ERA over his last 11 outings.


A+: Asheville Tourists (50-72) won 4-3 (BOX SCORE)

Ashebille got on the board in the second inning on a 2 run HR from Carrillo. In the 4th, Carrillo connected on a solo HR to make it 3-0. Brockhouse got the start and pitched well tossing 5 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts. He was relieved by Urias who allowed 3 runs in relief, though only one was earned. The game went to extra innings and in the 11th, Encarnacion walked it off with an RBI single as Asheville eon 4-3.

Note: Carrillo has a .761 OPS this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (52-70) lost 4-3 (BOX SCORE)

Rodriguez got the start but struggled allowing 3 runs over 2.2 innings. The RiverDogs got another run in the 5th as they extended their lead. The Woodpeckers offense responded with 3 runs in the 6th inning on a Colon 2 run HR and Austin RBI single. Mercedes was great in relief tossing 3 scoreless innings but the offense was quiet the rest of the way as the Woodpeckers fell 4-3.

Note: Austin is hitting .339 this season.
