Astros Minor League Recap: June 30th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

Here is the previous day’s recap.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (53-28) won 4-1 (BOX SCORE)

Sugar Land got on the board in the 3rd inning on a Bastidas RBI single. They got another run in the 4th on a Narvaez RBI single. Lauer got the start and pitched well allowing 1 run over 5 innings. The offense played add on with a Machado sac fly in the 6th and Hamilton RBI single in the 7th. The bullpen tossed 4 scoreless innings as they closed out the win.

Note: Hamilton has a .857 OPS this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (28-47) lost 5-3 (BOX SCORE)

Mancini got the start and pitched well allowing 1 run over 5.1 innings. The Hooks got on the board in the 5th inning on a throwing error after Cole stole third base. Torres struggled in relief allowing 4 runs as the RoughRiders took the lead. The Hooks got 2 runs in the 8th on solo HRs from Price and Matthews but that was it as the Hooks fell 5-3.

Note: Mancini has a 2.10 ERA in Double-A.


A+: Asheville Tourists (33-39) SUSPENDED

A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (34-41) won 8-2 (BOX SCORE

The Woodpeckers got on the board in the first on a Casserilla RBI double. They got another run in the 3rd on a Casserilla RBI groundout. They got 2 more in the 4th on RBI singles from Hernandez and Encarnacion. Peralta got the start and allowed 2 runs over 3.2 innings. The offense picked up some insurance on a wild pitch in the 8th and Bush 2 run single in the 9th. Mejia closed it out tossing 5 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts.

Note: Mejia has 58 K in 44.1 innings this season.
