Astros Minor League Recap: June 29th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

Here is the previous day’s recap.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (52-28) won 3-2 (BOX SCORE)

Gordon started for Sugar Land and allowed 2 runs, both in the first inning, over 5 innings while striking out 6. The offense got on the board in the 7th inning on a Berryhill RBI single. The pen was great tossing 4 scoreless innings as the Space Cowboys went into the 9th down 2-1. They quickly rallied and with 2 on and no outs, Bastidas drove a ball to right center to bring both runners in for a walk-off hit as Sugar Land won 3-2.

Note: Hamilton has a .848 OPS this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (28-46) won 7-1 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks got on the board in the 2nd inning on a Cole 2 run HR. In the 4th, the Hooks picked up 4 runs on a Melton solo HR, another Cole 2 run HR and a Brewer solo HR. Guilfoil got the start and pitched well allowing 1 run over 5 innings while striking out 5. In the 5thh, Dezenzo added an RBI double. The bullpen pitched well tossing 4 scoreless innings as they closed out the 7-1 win.

Note: Melton has a .781 OPS this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (33-39) won 5-2 (BOX SCORE)

True got the start and went 4 innings allowing 2 runs. The offense got on the board in the 3rd inning on a Cerny 2 run HR and Baez solo HR. They picked up 2 more in the 8th on a Deming RBI groundout and Johnson RBI single. The pen was great tossing 4 scoreless innings as they closed out the 5-2 win.

Note: Baez has 13 HR, 48 RBI this season.

A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (33-41) won 8-7 (BOX SCORE

The Woodpeckers got on the board with 2 runs in the first inning on an error and a Casserilla bases loaded walk. Pena got the start and allowed 3 runs over 3 innings. The offense picked up 4 runs in the 4th on a Casserilla RBI single and Diaz 3 run HR. Petschke struggled in relief allowed 4 runs as the Pelicans took the lead. Ochoa tied the game with a solo HR in the 9th and in the 10th, Casserilla connected on an RBI double to give the Woodpeckers the lead. Chirinos tossed a scoreless inning as he closed the game out.

Note: Jaworsky has 15 doubles this season.
