Astros Minor League Recap: July 9th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (56-31) POSTPONED

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (28-53) lost 13-6 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks got on the board scoring 3 runs in the first on a Melton RBI single, a run on a double play and a Corona RBI single. Rodriguez got the start but struggled allowing 6 runs over 2.1 innings. Santa struggled in relief also allowing 6 runs. Cole got 3 runs back on a 3 run HR in the 6th but that was it as the Hooks fell 13-6.

Note: Cole has a .760 OPS in Double-A.


A+: Asheville Tourists (35-44) lost 12-2 (BOX SCORE)

Batista started for Asheville but struggled allowing 6 runs, 2 earned, over 4 innings. The offense got on the board in the first getting a run on an error and then another run in the 3rd on a Guillemette RBI double. Then pen allowed 6 more runs as Asheville fell 12-2.

Note: Cerny has a .799 OPS this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (36-46) lost 6-5 (BOX SCORE

Tredwell got the start and was solid stricken out 6 over 3.1 scoreless innings. The offense got on the board in the 3rd inning scoring 3 runs on a wild pitch and 2 runs on a Nunez 2 run single. They got another run in the 5th on a stolen base and error. The pen struggled as the GreenJackets took a 5-4 lead. The Woodpeckers tied it in the 9th on a Jaworsky RBI groundout but in the bottom of the 9th, the GreenJackets walked it off for the 6-5 win.

Note: Gomez is hitting .253 this season.
