Astros Minor League Recap: July 12th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

Here is the previous day’s recap.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (57-32) lost 4-1 (BOX SCORE)

Gordon started for Sugar Land and tossed 5 scoreless innings. The offense got on the board in the 2nd inning on a Hamilton RBI single. The pen allowed a few runs and the offense was unable to get anything else going as Sugar Land fell 4-1.

Note: Whitcomb has 22 SB this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (29-55) won 4-0 (BOX SCORE)

Mancini got the start and pitched well striking out 5 over 5 scoreless innings. The Hooks got on the board in the 3rd on a Corona RBI groundout. The offense added 3 more in the 7th on a Corona sac fly and Cole 2 run double. Guilfoil closed it out tossing 4 no-hit innings as the Hooks won 4-0.

Note: Mancini has a 1.89 ERA in Double-A.


A+: Asheville Tourists (37-45) won 6-5 (BOX SCORE)

Guedez got the start for Asheville and allowed 2 runs, both unearned, over 3 innings of work. The offense got on the board with a run in the 4th on a Deming solo HR. After falling behind 3-1, the Tourists rallied for 5 runs in the 6th on a Baez 2 run HR, Loftin RBI double and two runs scoring on an error. Urias went the final 5 innings allowing 3 runs, but held on as Asheville won 6-5.

Note: Baez has 14 homers this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (38-47) lost 3-0 (BOX SCORE

Peralta started for the Woodpeckers and went 5 innings allowing 3 runs with 4 strikeouts. Mejia went 3 scoreless in relief with 4 strikeouts. Unfortunately, the offense was quiet, picking up just 2 hits on the night as the Woodpeckers fell 3-0.

Note: Mejia has 65 K in 49.1 innings this season.
