Astros Minor League Recap: May 10th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

Here is the previous day’s recap.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (24-13) won 5-4 (BOX SCORE)

Blubaugh started for Sugar Land and went 4.1 innings allowing 2 runs. The offense got on the board in the 4th scoring 2 runs on a Leon RBI groundout and Salazar RBI single. They got another run in the 5th on a Leon bases loaded walk. OKC got a couple runs in the 7th and 8th to take a 4-3 lead going into the 9th. In the bottom of the inning, Berryhill drove in the tying run with an RBI single. With two outs in the inning, Wagner walked it off with a single to right to give Sugar Land a 5-4 win.

Note: Berryhill is hitting .296 in May.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (9-22) lost 3-2 (BOX SCORE)

Melton put the Hooks on the board in the first inning with a 2 run HR, his 5th HR of the season. Ullola got the start and pitched well striking out 12 over 6 innings while allowing 3 runs. Unfortunately the offense struggled the rest of the way as the Hooks fell 3-2.

Note: Ullola has 50 K in 33.2 innings this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (12-18) lost 3-0 (BOX SCORE)

Urias started for Asheville and went 4.2 innings allowing 3 runs with 5 strikeouts. Guedez tossed 3 scoreless innings in relief striking out 6. The offense was quiet all night picking up just 2 hits, both singles, as they were shutout in the 3-0 loss.

Note: Guedez has 27 K in 24 innings this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (18-13) won 6-0 (BOX SCORE)

Pecko got the start for the Woodpeckers and went 4 scoreless innings allowing 1 hit and striking out 4. The offense got on the board in the first inning scoring 2 on a 2 run double from Jaworsky. In the 5th, Encarnacion connected on a 2 run HR to make it 4-0. Carrillo provided some insurance in the 8th with another 2 run HR. Nezuh went the final 5 innings without allowing a run and striking out 6 as he combined with Pecko for the 2 hit shutout.

Note: Nezuh has 32 K in 28 innings this season.
