Astros Minor League Recap: April 27th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

Here is the previous day’s recap.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (18-8) won 7-3 (BOX SCORE)

Tamarez started for Sugar Land and was great tossing 5 scoreless innings with 8 strikeouts, running his fastball up to 98.1 MPH. The offense got on the board in the 4th scoring 3 runs on a Leon solo HR and Salazar 2 run single. They got 2 more in the 5th on sac flies from Wagner and Amaya. The pen allowed 2 runs in the 6th but the offense got them back in the 8th on a Leon RBI single and another run scoring on an error. Suero tossed a scoreless 9th as he closed out the 7-3 win.

Note: Leon is hitting .313 with 9 SB this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (6-14) won 6-3 (BOX SCORE)

Robaina started for the Hooks and pitched well allowing 2 runs over 6 innings while picking up 6 strikeouts. The offense got on the board in the 6th getting a 2 run HR from Melton. In the 7th, they added insurance picking up 4 runs on an Espinosa 2 run double and then RBI doubles from Sacco and Melton. Ford closed it out tossing 1.1 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts.

Note: Melton has 10 RBI over his last 12 games.


A+: Asheville Tourists (8-11) lost 3-2 (BOX SCORE)

Guedez started for Asheville and allowed 3 runs over 3.2 innings of work. The offense was quiet most of the night but they rallied for 2 runs in the 7th on a Ferreras 2 run single. Urias went 4 scoreless innings in relief keeping it close but the offense was unable to complete the comeback as Asheville fell 3-2.

Note: Ferreras has a .854 OPS this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (13-7) won 3-1 (BOX SCORE)

Hicks got the start for the Woodpeckers and after a leadoff homer, he went 5 straight scoreless. He finished with 8 strikeouts allowing just the 1 run. Carrillo put the offense on the board in the bottom of the 2nd inning with a solo HR. In the 3rd, Daniels added an RBI groundout. Carrillo would drive in another run with an RBI single in the 5th to make it 3-1. Rodriguez went the final 4 innings striking out 4 without allowing a run as he closed out the 3-1 win.

Note: Hicks has 25 K in 18 innings with a 0.50 ERA this season.
