Astros Minor League Recap: September 16th

Another day of minor league action is in the books. You can see all the Astros affiliates results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (65-72) lost 8-2 (BOX SCORE)

Sugar Land got on the board in the second inning on a Costes RBI single. Whitley started for Sugar Land and allowed 4 runs over 5 innings of work. The pen allowed a few more runs and Sugar land was only able to get one back on a fielder’s choice as they fell 8-2.

Note: Mushinski has a 3.00 ERA in Triple-A this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (6-72) won 13-4 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks jumped out to an early lead on a Perez 2 run HR in the first inning. They got 2 more in the 2nd on a Stubbs 2 run HR. Melendez started and allowed 2 runs over 1.2 innings and he was relieved by Sprinkle who allowed 2 runs over 1.1 innings. The Hooks retook the lead scoring 3 runs in the 6th on a Salazar 2 run HR and Stubbs solo HR. The offense blew it open in the 8th scoring 6 runs on a Stubbs hit by pitch, Kessinger 2 run single, Arias RBIs single and Berryhill 2 run single. Bravo closed it out with 6 shutout innings.

Note: Stubbs has a .859 OPS in Double-A.
