Astros Minor League Recap: August 7th, 2021

Another day of minor league baseball is in the books and you can see all the Astros affiliates results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Skeeters (46-34) won 12-3 (BOX SCORE)

Dubin started for the Skeeters and was electric striking out 5 over 2 perfect innings. The offense got on the board in the 4th scoring 4 runs on a Papierski 2 run double, Costes sac fly and Bregman RBI double. Papierski added another RBI double in the 5th. In the 6th, the Skeeters blew it open scoring 4 more runs on a Hinojosa 2 run single and 2 runs scoring on an error. Brown relieved Dubin and went 5.1 innings allowing 3 runs and striking out 5. Stubbs added some insurance in the 9th inning with a 3 run HR to make it 12-3. Abreu closed it out with a scoreless 9th.

Note: Brown has 88 K in 60.2 innings this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (39-44) won 6-3 (BOX SCORE)

Bermudez started for the Hooks and was solid tossing 4 scoreless innings despite walking 5. The Hooks picked up 5 early runs in the 2nd on a Barefoot RBI single, Adolph 2 run double, Julks RBI double and Perez RBI single. Adolph added solo HR in the 4th, his 10th HR of the season. Bermudez was relieved by Brown who struck out 6 over 4 innings allowing just 1 run in his AA debut. Tejada pitched the 9th and allowed 2 runs but eventually shut the door sealing the win.

Note: Adolph is hitting .462 with 5 HR, 14 RBI over his last 12 games.


A+: Asheville Tourists (34-45) POSTPONED


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (37-45) won 6-4 (BOX SCORE)

Taveras started for the Woodpeckers and went 5 innings allowing 1 run while striking out 6. Mascai put the Woodpeckers on the board in the 2nd inning with an RBI double. In the 5th, Wagner added a solo HR, his first professional HR. The Woodpeckers opened it up in the 6th scoring 4 runs on a Rodriguez solo HR, Mascai 2 run double and a run scoring on an error. Rodriguez allowed 3 runs in relief but went the final 4 innings and was able to seal the win.

Note: Santos has 33 K in 29.2 innings this season.
