Astros Minor League Recap: August 1st, 2021

Another day of minor league baseball is in the books and you can see all the Astros affiliates results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Skeeters (44-32) won 3-2 (BOX SCORE)

Brown made his AAA debut last night and he did not disappoint striking out 7 over 6 innings while allowing just 1 run. Jones put the Skeeters on the board with a 2 run HR in the 4th inning. In the 5th, Siri added a solo HR to extend the led to 3-1. Hernandez tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief. Blanco closed it out allowing a run but picking up the save.

Note: Brown has 83 K in 55.1 innings this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (35-43) won 4-1 (BOX SCORE)

Daniels started for the Hooks and went 5 innings allowing 1 run while striking out 5. The Hooks got on the board in the 2nd inning on a Kessinger RBI single and Mendoza RBI double. In the 4th, the Hooks got 2 more runs on a Kessinger 2 run HR. Bermudez pitched the final 4 innings without allowing a run and striking out 6 as the Hooks won 4-1.

Note: Bermudez has 98 K in 70 innings this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (32-43) won 14-6 (BOX SCORE)

The Tourists jumped out to a big lead scoring 3 runs in the first on a Daniels 2 run double and Stubbs RBI single. They got 3 more runs in the 2nd on a Nova RBI single and Correa 2 run single. Brown got the start and went 3.1 innings allowing 4 runs with 6 strikeouts. Daniels added an RBI single in the 4th to extend the lead. Holcomb went 3 innings in relief allowing 2 runs, 1 earned. Holderbach added some insurance in the 7th with a 3 run HR. In the 8th, Valdez connected on a 3 run HR to extend the lead. DeJuneas closed it out with a scoreless 9th.

Note: Correa is hitting .486 in High-A and .332 overall.
