Astros Minor League Recap: August 18th, 2021

Another day of minor league baseball is in the books and you can see all the Astros affiliates results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Skeeters (49-40) OFF


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (42-49) lost 5-1 (BOX SCORE)

Ruppenthal started for the Hooks and tossed 5 scoreless innings with 3 strikeouts. The Hooks got on the boar din the 3rd scoring 2 runs on a Perez and Julks RBI singles. They got 2 more runs in the 4th on a Holderbach RBI double and McKenna sac fly to take a 4-0 lead. Barefoot hit a solo HR in the 7th, his 20th HR of the season. Salazar would add a 2 run HR in the 8th. Brown allowed 5 runs in relief but Hernandez closed it out getting the final 3 outs.

Note: Perez is hitting .333 with 8 2B, 4 HR in August.


A+: Asheville Tourists (38-51) lost 6-4 (BOX SCORE)

Tamarez started for the Tourists and went 4.2 innings allowing 3 runs while striking out 7. Diaz put the Tourists on the board in the 5th with a 2 run HR. In the 6th, Correa connected on a solo HR. Stubbs tied the game up at 4 in the 8th with a sac fly but the BuleClaws responded with 2 more runs as they went on to win 6-4.

Note: Berryhill has a 1.006 OPS with 17 2B, 13 HR this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (40-51) lost 7-2 (BOX SCORE)

Tokar started and last 6 innings as he allowed 4 runs while striking out 4. Hamilton put the Woodpeckers on the board in the 4th with a sac fly. In the 6th, Rodriguez added an RBI single for the second run. Hiraldo allowed 3 runs in relief as the Pelicans extended their lead and eventually won 7-2.

Note: Wagner is hitting .394 through 9 games this season.
