Astros Minor League Recap: August 15th, 2021

Another day of minor league baseball is in the books and you can see all the Astros affiliates results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Skeeters (47-39) POSTPONED


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (42-48) lost 8-7 (BOX SCORE)

Lawson started for the Hooks and 4.1 innings allowing 5 runs, 4 earned. Manea put the Hooks on the board early with an RBI single in the first. In the 2nd inning they picked up 4 runs on a Barefoot 2 run HR, Julks solo HR and a run on a double play. They got another run in the 4th on a Salazar solo HR. Julks added another solo HR in the 8th. The Hooks went into the 8th up 7-6 but Bravo allowed 2 runs as the Sod Poodles took the 8-7 lead. The Hooks put a couple on in the 9th but were ultimately unable to score.

Note: Barefoot has 19 HR this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (37-50) won 13-5 (BOX SCORE)

The Tourists jumped out to an early 4-0 leading in the first on a Whitcomb 2 run HR, Valdez RBI double and Santana RBI single. Cody got the started and allowed 3 runs back as he didn’t make it out of the first. The Tourists got another run in the 3rd on a Whitcomb RBI double. In the 6th, the offense scored 4 more runs on a Santana RBI double, Correa RBI groundout and Berryhill 2 run single. Sprinkle tossed 3.1 scoreless in relief striking out 7. The offense got 3 more in the 8th on a Correa RBI single and sac flies from Berryhill and Whitcomb. Valdez added a solo HR in the 9th to cap the 13-5 win.

Note: Correa is hitting .364 in High-A.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (39-50) won 3-2 (BOX SCORE)

Schroeder started for the Woodpeckers and tossed 4 scoreless innings. The offense got on the board in the 3rd on solo HRs from Williams and Giron. In the 5th, Perry added an RBI double. Caldero allowed 2 runs in relief but Gaither and Ford closed it out with scoreless outings.

Note: Perry has a .724 OPS this season.
