Astros Minor League Recap: August 14th, 2021

Another day of minor league baseball is in the books and you can see all the Astros affiliates results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Skeeters (47-39) lost 4-3 (BOX SCORE)

France got the start for the Skeeters and pitched really well again allowing 2 runs, 1 earned, over 6 innings. Matijevic put the Skeeters on the board with a 3 run HR in the 3rd inning, his 19th HR of the season. The Isotopes got 2 unearned runs off of Martinez to take a 4-3 lead. The offense was quiet the rest of the night as the skeeters lost 4-3.

Note: France has a 2.40 ERA in AAA.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (42-47) won 12-6 (BOX SCORE)

Hernandez made his first career start and went 3 innings allowing 1 run. Schreiber put the Hooks on the board with a solo HR in the 3rd inning. In the 4th, the Hooks got 4 more runs on a McKenna RBI single and Schreiber 3 run HR. The offense continued their power hitting in the 8th with a 3 run HR from Barefoot. The Hooks capped their big day with 2 more HRs in the 9th, a 2 run HR from Salazar and Perez as they won 12-6.

Note: Perez is hitting .340 in August.


A+: Asheville Tourists (36-50) won 9-1 (BOX SCORE)

Jimenez got the start and tossed 4 scoreless innings. Guerrero got the scoring started in the 5th with an RBI single. Berryhill added an RBI double in the 6th. In the 7th, the offense blew it open scoring 6 runs on an Abreu RBI single, Daniels bases loaded walk, Santana 2 run single, and 2 runs on an error. Guerrero would add a solo HR in the 8th. Jaquez closed it out with 3 scoreless innings.

Note: Jimenez has a 3.76 ERA with 75 K in 67 innings this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (38-50) lost 8-5 (BOX SCORE)

The Woodpeckers jumped out to an early lead scoring 4 runs in the 2nd inning on a steal of home, a Perry 2 run HR and a Mascai solo HR. The Fireflies responded getting 6 runs off of Gomez. Gonzalez added an RBI single in the 6th to make it 6-5. The Fireflies added a couple insurance runs late and the Woodpeckers were unable to respond as they lost 8-5.

Note: Gonzalez is hitting .271 this season.
