Astros Minor League Recap: July 1st, 2021
Another day of minor league baseball is in the books and you can see all the Astros affiliates results below.
AAA: Sugar Land Skeeters (27-21) won 2-1 (BOX SCORE)
Pruitt made another rehab start and went 2 scoreless innings. Meyers put the Skeeters on the board with an RBI double in the first. In the 3rd, he drove in another run with an RBI single. Smith made a rehab appearance and had a perfect inning. McKee allowed a run in the 4th but after that the bullpen shut it down. Scheetz, Kelly, Ferrell and Blanco all had scoreless outings to close it out:

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (24-27)
Game 1 – won 5-2 (BOX SCORE)
Brown started for the Hooks and lasted just 1.1 innings allowing 1 run and striking out 3. He was relieved by Tejada who tossed 2.2 scoreless innings. The offense was quiet until the 6th when they broke out for 5 runs on a Perez RBI single, a Gonzalez RBI single, a Lee RBI double, and a 2 run single from Hensley. Henderson allowed a run in the 6th but Olczak closed it out with a scoreless 7th.

Game 2 – lost 3-0 (BOX SCORE)
Lawson got the start in game two and allowed 3 runs in 3.2 innings. Bravo pitched well in relief striking out 5 over 2.1 scoreless innings. The offense went quiet though picking up just 5 hits as they failed to score a run and lost game 2, 3-0.

A+: Asheville Tourists (22-28) lost 9-2 (BOX SCORE)
Brown started and got roughed up in the first inning allowing 5 runs but he stuck with it and still managed to get through 5 innings total allowing 7 runs, 6 earned. Casey and Ceballos both pitched in relief and allowed 1 unearned run each. The Tourists got their first run in the 5th on an Abreu RBI single. In the 9th Arias connected on a solo HR, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the 9 runs allowed and 4 errors committed by Asheville.

A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (21-29) win 6-5 (BOX SCORE)
Schroeder got the start and despite walking 5, allowing just 1 run in 5.1 innings. The Woodpeckers got on the board in the 3rd on a Dirden RBI single and a Mendoza 2 run single. They would add on 3 more in the 7th on RBI doubles from Correa, Dirden and Berryhill. The bullpen allowed a few runs to make it close but held on for the 6-5 win.
Note: Correa is hitting .280 with 14 2B this season.
