Astros Minor League Recap: June 5th, 2021

Another day of minor league baseball is in the books and you can see all the Astros affiliates results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Skeeters (17-8) POSTPONED


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (12-16) won 11-8 (BOX SCORE)

Bermudez had his first rough outing of the season lasting just 0.2 innings and allowing 6 runs, 3 earned. The bullpen was solid after him with Hernandez allowing 1 unearned run over 2.2 innings and Henderson tossing 3 scoreless innings. The Hooks rallied for 5 runs in the 7th on a Costes bases loaded walk, a 3 run double from Matijevic and an RBI double from Leon. After the Rockhounds scored a run in the bottom of the 7th, the Hooks scored 3 in the top of the 8th on a Kessinger RBI double and Costes 2 run single to tie it at 8. In the top of the 9th, Adams gave the Hooks the lead on a 3 run HR. Olczak closed it out with a scoreless 9th.

Note: Leon is hitting .467 in 6 games in June.


A+: Asheville Tourists (13-15) lost 6-3 (BOX SCORE)

Endersby got the start in this one and was solid allowing just 1 earned run over 3.2 innings while striking out 3. Perez put the Tourists on the board in the 2nd with a solo HR, his 5th of the season. In the 5th, the Tourists got another run on a McKenna solo HR, his 7th of the season. Macuare made his High A debut and went 2.1 innings allowing 4 runs while striking out 5. Valdez added a solo HR in the 8th but that’s all the Tourists would get as they lost 6-3.

Note: Perez his hitting .344 with 3 HR, 9 RBI in 8 games in High A.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (11-17) lost 5-4 (BOX SCORE)

De Paula got the start for the Woodpeckers and pitched really well tossing 5 scoreless innings with 5 strikeouts. Fayetteville got 2 runs in the 2nd on an Orr RBI triple and Alvarez RBI single. They got another run in the 3rd on a Dirden RBI single. Taveras pitched in relief and allowed 4 runs in 2.2 innings. Dirden tied it up at 4 with a solo HR in the 8th. Betances allowed a run in the 9th and the Woodpeckers were unable to respond as they fell 5-4.

Note: De Paula has a 1.66 ERA with 31 K in 21.1 innings this season.
