Astros Minor League Recap: June 22nd, 2021
Another day of minor league baseball is in the books and you can see all the Astros affiliates results below.
AAA: Sugar Land Skeeters (25-11) lost 11-7 (BOX SCORE)
France started for the Skeeters and went 3 innings allowing just 1 run. He was relieved by Olczak who allowed 6 runs in 2 innings. The offense got on the board in the second on a Papierski RBI double. They picked up another run in the 4th on a Shaver RBI single. In the 5th, they scored 2 runs on a De La Cruz 2 run double. McKee came in next and allowed a run and Blanco allowed 3 in his inning of work. Matijevic added a solo HR in the 7th. In the 9th, the Skeeters got solo HRs from Meyers and Siri but it wasn’t enough to complete the rally.
Note: Meyers is hitting .306 with 8 HR in June.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (18-24) lost 6-4 (BOX SCORE)
Bermudez started for the Hooks and went 5 innings allowing 3 runs with 5 strikeouts. The offense took a 2-0 lead in the 2nd getting an RBI triple from Lee and a Manea RBI single. In the 4th, the Hooks got back to back HRs from Lee and Manea to take the lead. Conn relieved Bermudez and allowed a run and Henderson allowed 2 runs as the Sod Poodles took the lead. The offense was unable to make a comeback as the Hooks fell 6-4.

Ruppenthal started and allowed 4 runs over 5 innings. The offense came out on fire scoring 6 runs in the first inning on a Schreiber RBI single, Valdez 3 run HR, Stubbs RBI double and Carrasco RBI double. They got 3 more in the 2nd on another Valdez 3 run HR. After the Dash got a couple back, the Tourists scored 3 more in the 4th on a Holderbach 2 run double and Orr RBI double. Valdez would add an RBI double in the 6th and McKenna connected on a solo HR in the 7th. The final run came from an Orr RBI double. The bullpen struggled with Cody allowed 6 runs in just 0.2 innings. Ceballos allowed 2 runs in the 9th but was able to close it out.
Note: Valdez has 12 HR, 46 RBI in 38 games this season.

A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (16-25) won 4-1 (BOX SCORE)
Robaina started for the Woodpeckers and tossed 5 innings allowing just 1 unearned run. The offense picked ip 2 runs in the first on a Rodriguez 2 run double and 2 runs in the 6th on a Berryhill 2 run double. Santos relieved Robaina making his Astros minor league debut (2nd round pick in 2020) and pitched well striking out 5 over 2.2 scoreless innings. Tokar closed it out with 1.1 scoreless innings.
Note: Perry and Santos both made their 2021 debuts last night.
